She is also a strong advocate for consumers who are being harassed by debt collectors. Andrea has brought cases against large and small creditors and banks in the bankruptcy court for attempts to collect on a debt that was discharged in bankruptcy, in federal court for unfair trade practices and unfair credit reporting, and in state courts for debt collection harassment, creditor negligence, and foreclosure defense.

For the past six years Tom Cox has played a substantial role in the MASH as a volunteer lawyer screening mortgage foreclosure cases, handling referrals to volunteer lawyers on the MASH panel, co-counseling on select cases, and acting as a consultant to Maine foreclosure defense lawyers. He was instrumental in the start-up of in 2009 of Maine's foreclosure mediation program, providing training and consultation to lawyers representing homeowners in foreclosure mediation.

Tom is credited with exposing the foreclosure "robo-signing" scandal with his deposition of GMAC Mortgage's "limited signing officer", Jeffrey Stephan, and his subsequent and successful efforts to force GMAC to halt its improper foreclosure practices. Tom uncovered massive fraud among mortgage lenders, leading to a $25 billion settlement. Tom has participated in and argued appeals of key Maine foreclosure issues to the Maine Supreme Court resulting in decisions of national significance.   He is the recipient of the 2011 Howard Dana Award presented by the Maine Bar Foundation for outstanding services to pro bono clients, and an honorary recipient of a 2011 Empire State Counsel Award from the State Bar of New York. He is also the recipient of a 2012 Purpose Prize.
