James Molleur and Tanya Sambatakos attended the National Association of Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA) annual conference in San Francisco in early May. The annual conference is a 3 day event attended by approximately 1,300 consumer bankruptcy attorneys from across the country. The conference provides the most up to date legal arguments on issues affecting consumer bankruptcy debtors. Molleur Law Office was pleased to provide two attorneys in the office with the opportunity to participate in the conference.
Topics discussed at the conference included in depth means test analysis for debtors in Chapter 7 and 13, the latest information on fighting mortgage foreclosures, addressing secured debts in Chapter 13 plans, evidentiary hearings in the Bankruptcy Court, and proving damages in automatic stay or discharge injunction violations.
Next year’s conference will be in Washington D.C. and be held in conjunction with NACBA’s legislative lobbying effort. NACBA strives to help legislators understand the plight of individuals filing bankruptcy and making changes to the Bankruptcy Code to make the process more friendly to those forced to use it.
