The National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys recently held its annual conference in Los Angeles, California at the Renaissance Marriott Hotel in Hollywood. Over 1000 consumer bankruptcy attorneys attended the conference from across the United States. James Molleur and Tanya Sambatakos, from Molleur Law Office, were among those in attendance at the conference. Usually, the most committed consumer bankruptcy advocates across the country participate in the conference to learn from each other's experiences assisting consumers trying to cope with overwhelming debt.
National and regional speakers presented the latest caselaw and legal techniques in consumer bankruptcy law. The topics included mortgage foreclosure defenses, individual Chapter 11 cases, consumer law litigation (such as Fair Debt Collection Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act), law office technology, Chapter 7 and 13 choices, taxes, ethics, and related issues.
The conference provided us with new ideas and strategies to help clients in Maine and Massachusetts overcome their financial problems. It was also comforting to find that some of the bankruptcy and litigation techniques that are currently employed by Molleur Law Office to help clients are as cutting edge as any techniques used in other areas of the country. We strive to remain among the most innovative and assertive advocates, in both federal and state courts, for consumers experiencing debt problems in Maine and Massachusetts.
