Chet joins Molleur Law Offices in January 2014 as their newest consumer protection attorney. He brings with him extensive experience in foreclosure prevention strategies including loan modification, foreclosure mediation, foreclosure defense, homeowner defense, and litigation. We are very pleased add his talents and energy to our Consumer Rights Practice Group.
Prior to joining Molleur Law, Chet practiced for 12 years at Pine Tree Legal Assistance, where he served as the Coordinator of Pine Tree’s Foreclosure Prevention Project. Prior to his foreclosure prevention work, Chet’s practice at Pine Tree included defending tenants’ rights, litigating Fair Housing violations and working in education law.
In 2009, the Maine Judicial Branch appointed Chet as Chairperson of the Judicial Branch Commission on Foreclosure Diversion. In addition, Chet actively participated in legislative developments relating to Maine foreclosure law, including the creation of Maine’s mandatory foreclosure mediation program. While at Pine Tree, Chet coordinated a series of consumer and advocate education and outreach efforts that supported the formation of the “Maine Housing Counseling Network" and "Maine Attorneys Saving Homes" (MASH). He also coordinated and presented at the first trainings of legal aid and private attorneys in foreclosure defense. Chet is currently an active member of MASH and the National Association of Consumer Advocates.
Chet was the 2010 Recipient of Coastal Enterprises, Inc.’s Founder’s Award, which is presented to an individual, business, funder or agency that has made an extraordinary contribution to build economic security for disadvantaged people and places.
